Matterhorn Circus

stillmatterhorn

A documentary written by Manuel Von Stürler and Antoine Jaccoud

In development

A young Korean woman, Ji-Young, who has come to Zermatt for a brief stay, leaves her tour group and waits for the Matterhorn to reappear behind the curtain of clouds that conceals it.  The wait lasts a long time. It is marked by the disenchantment produced by her discovery – through the meeting of several characters- of the socio-economic realities of the mountain’s relentless exploitation, and the revelation of its fragility under the impact of global warming.

SANS VOIX is the portrait of a young man, Dan, who observes in a critical but somewhat passiv way different social issues such as overconsumption, stress, lack of human interaction and the frantic routine of everyday life in big cities. When he wanders alone in the city, he always listens to music that resonates in his ears like a mantra. At night, he usually goes out to clubs, places where he feels alive and where he can experience different states of consciousness. On his way home from a rave one morning, an unexpected event surprises Dan, leading him to change his perception of himself and of his role in the world.
